Teachers are critical to our students’ success, both academically and personally. The teacher must take responsibility to ensure that students achieve at or beyond grade level. Teachers must maintain high expectations of themselves and their students at all times. Teachers must be organized and prepared to teach, and treat all students, families, and colleagues with respect. Teachers are responsible to leverage technology to assist students in order to keep data necessary to measure student performance. In order to perform this job successfully,  teachersmust have solution seeking and optimistic mindsets, critical thinking skills and able to take and give feedback and be able to adapt to change and unexpected situations, and be able to adapt to individual students needs and have knowledge of the technology used in the classroom and for administrative purposes. Teachers must have a strong content proficiency in all areas of their assignments.

Essential functions of the job                   

  • Provide instruction in their subject area sufficient to achieve student performance results, while maintaining professionalism with students, co-workers, administrators, volunteers and parents.
  • Assure instructional integrity consistent and maintain a learning culture consistent with Desert View Schools and State standards including compliance with all board policies and organizational processes and contributing to and support the overall mission of the organization.
  • Responsible for maintaining all safety rules and expectations throughout the campus
  • Must have the ability and desire for solving problems and getting results
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to multitask, establish and rearrange priorities, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment and maintain exceptional organization and project management skills
  • Responsible for attending all professional development meetings and opportunities for professional growth and have a continual focus on self-improvement and continuous learning
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding and using digital curriculum on both the student and administrative side
  • Responsible for working with parents in all circumstances and to build a good working relationship with each family
  • Responsible for outdoor activities which may include but not limited to play ground supervision, participation in safety drills and activities, traffic duties etc.
  • All other duties as assigned by Building Leaders or Administration

 

Essential Qualifications

  • BA from accredited university (may be waived in certain circumstances)
  • AZ Highly Qualified Status – Required or a plan in place that is mutually defined by the building leader and staff member to achieve Highly qualified status
  • IVP Level DPS issued Fingerprint Clearance Card - Required
  • Teaching Certification – preferred but not required

Essential physical functions and working conditions

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time
  • Must be able to traverse whenever necessary to fulfill the needs of the position including but not limited to traffic duty, recess supervision, walking students to different areas of the school
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other electronic devices which will require repetitive motions
  • Must be able to position yourself to assist staff, students or other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to communicate with students, other staff, parents etc., this is both by being able to talk and to hear and be able to observe your surroundings
  • May need to transport boxes, computer equipment and any other equipment necessary to fulfill the essential functions of the job
  • Exposure to working conditions: the job primarily is indoors so exposure to florescent lighting and other elements typical in a school setting. May also be exposed to outdoor elements when performing outside job responsibilities
